Thread: Fixed in time Renko EA or indior - wanted

    Hi,
    I have hunted for an'update' since I recently found that nearly all Renko indiors recalculate. I utilize Renko.

    The solution is to anchor it in time (set a beginning date) however I don't know how.

    I believed paid options but not one release the source code. I get why but at the same time trust must work both ways, I really don't know whats in the exe so using the MQ4 is important.

    Can anyone assist in anyway.
    I utilize the attached live ea renko builder. This is a good renko builder however suffers from the above issue, its an publicly available EA
    EA VERSION
    //| RenkoLiveChart_v3.3. Mq4
    //| Inspired by Renko script by e4 (renko_live_scr. Mq4)
    //| Copyleft 2009 LastViking

    If anyone can assist I'd be really grateful.

    Nice, I have tested this yestereday and today a couple of times, and the charts were exactly the same every time. This means that the first 60 bars or are unusable, that needs exploring, but is not a major issue.

    Familiar with this (been using Renko for many years now)I once had the exact same intention. You do understand that your starting point, whatever it is, fixed or not, is completely random and decides how your whole chart appears, right? So. . .what legitimate starting point would you maybe want to use? I once had the idea to solve it by calculating the Renko bars backward (because of its sole really fixed point is the last known price), but this involved quite a few rewriting and of course includes all the inconvenience that your chart gets rewritten. . .all of this time

    So I dropped it. Since all starting points are equally (in)valid and totally random, imo it isn't of any use. The positive side effect isthat egies and indies get challenged over once when the chart changes. Which, really, is a positive effect.

    Why is an individual beginning point invalid. ?

    I simply want to see exactly the same previous chart each time I open my platform at the end of the week I will wrap up secure in the knowledge what I saw (my setup) on say Tuesday and started as a transaction is what I am reviewing on the friday to see if I made a mistake or could have done better.

    You are saying it isn't feasible?

    Then I guess that the solution is to have a picture daily and dismiss historical data because for me the issue means a legitimate entry on Tuesday is then not visible the next (or later) days. Its the way I identified the issue.

    PITA but thanks anyhow, I hate these quirks.

    Hi pgtips, sorry for the confusion. I was reasoning from my own findings, not discovering that you might require something like that in your own process. I just meant to say that there is not any inherent value at a given starting point, so one might as well not have it. That was all. Now, however, I see your objective is something else. Of course it can be done! I intend to give it a look when I get home later on.

    Optimism, sure, but reality is hard... I just tried the most simple approach I could produce. Which ought to work, but MT4 can be complied.
    A date/time can be input at the settings, and the chart is restricted to begin at this bar, but...

    Please look at this version, it's a start. I don't have any time over the weekend, but will look into it in the future, and hopefully there is a better programmer than me that can describe the amusing tail of bars in the left side (that appear before the date/time that is input, but with different rates).

    There's always a challenge

    Thank you flofri.

    I have loaded the EA. If the point you added solves the recalculation problem I'm over the moon, anything before the beginning date is not important.

    Unless its pointing to a bigger problem somewhere else. I just put mine to Oct 2017 and will never see them.

    The principal thing is that the chart will (hopefully) stay static and exactly what I see each day will stay and be the same at the end of the week.

    Thank you very much
