2 Attachment(s) Foreign investment in Canadian securities amounted to $15.1 billion in March, mainly in Canadian company instruments. In the same time, Canadian traders added $15.4 billion of overseas securities to their holdings, led by acquisitions of US equities.

For the first quarter as a whole, international investment in Canadian securities exceeded Canadian investment in foreign securities by $28.8 billion, led by issuances of new Canadian shares to non resident traders in February. Foreign investors acquired $15.1 billion of Canadian securities in March, mainly Canadian business instruments. Foreign acquisitions of Canadian securities reached $60.7 billion in the first quarter, up substantially from prior quarters.
