2 Attachment(s) The Pacific Rim trade ministers began their two-day meeting in Hanoi Saturday concentrating on free trade and regional economic integration amid fears of expanding trade protectionism.

U.S Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer made his international debut in the gathering of 21 ministers in the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation forum.

On the sidelines of the meeting, trade ministers in the remaining 11 countries involved with the Trans Pacific Partnership trade pact are planned to meet Sunday seeking to to regenerate the arrangement following the U.S. pulled out.

Alan Bollard, executive director of APEC Secretariat, stated the ministers might possibly alter a number of the posts and place the pact into force or discuss it more.

Either TPP ministers will say they want to go forward with TPP 1-1 and alter the posts so they could put it in to pressure. That is fairly simple, he stated. Or else, they may say they want to discuss it more. Even more complicated renegotiation could be meant by it.
