Should you use MT4, Take a Look at the profile of Ronald:

In Roughly Ronald There's a link to Exchange simulator. It's a nice EA which lets you view historical data, place virtual transactions and see how do they turn out.

Just in case its worth asking with this busy thread. .

Anyone have a solution which enables manual backtesting on multiple timeframes?

As an example, to get two charts (running at different timeframes, and with their particular indiors) controlled by the same play button?

From asking google various questions, I'm doubtful there's a solution. . . Being a former programmer, its doable. . Until understanding to be helpful, you'd probably want a complete set of technical analysis resources for the chart. . Baby's gone.

    Thanks for any information.

Not actually. There is probably a way, but if so it would be a hokey black-magic manner of doing it.

Mt4 backtesting and using a multi-timeframe indior to imagine a greater timeframe is one matter and do-able and continues to be done by many. Mt4 backtesting and using a multi-timeframe indi to visualize AND put additional objects on the sub-window is not do-able due to the way in which the mtf indi has to maintain recalculating the buffers to make the data stay aligned to the right while in fact each new candle is forcing some objects on the sub-window to float to the leftside.

Actually, which gives me an idea... I believe it's entirely possible to make an mtf indi that only forces all things to the proper one area each time a new candle opens, until the mtf indi needs to make a new candle as well in which case it can shift all objects one space to the leftside.

I believe it's do-able an mtf indi can maintain items like trendlines and labels etc in it's correct positioning without it automatically dring!!!

Give me, along with others enough time and I am sure someone will drop a new indi that does so.

Hey , how about something similar to a (configurable) bollinger band and/or MACD for the excess price indior?

Personally could live without the ability to overlay drawn lines etc..

Any links to the very best price indior atm would be much appreciated.

That's something else completely... an mtf indior is really a hack to begin-with. I COULD compose indiors which overlay onto my OWN mtf indi, but I have no desire to rewrite x variety of other existing indiors just to make a version compatible with my mtf indi.

Again, mtf indi's are hack-jobs of earning something happen that mt4 was not implicitly designed to perform, therefore, everything about them is further hack-jobs and bending the arrangement of how indiors are meant to do the job.

    sorry.

On the plus-side, you've inspired me to unveil my mtf indi and fix it up a bit... and I've almost got it completed. And, as mentioned before, now you can drop basic items onto the indior and they do not drift from the chart.

    Yes this could be done.

Although, custom buttons are hard in MT4. . .so a different solution to your play button would be probably be easier to implement.

Article the specifics of just what it is you are attempting to do and that I try to assist you.

Well, might be on something with s simulator ea. . As a remedy to the problem I have numerous mt instances running and have automated pressing the play/pause button in each window.

In case there's a different and more better method, here's the idea:

    - Looking to get a manual backtesting alternative. Should be able to place trades and fast forward through bars as needed.
    - Loed egy tester ea, which can be ideal, except for only working together with 1 price chart for evaluation.
    - Seems the idea of more than one chart per ea is not actually supported in mt, others at best have been utilizing a custom indior that prepopulated price data.

... Thinking about it, not an expert with Ea's or mt's api's and the like, but easing guide trade testing/execution probably is not exactly what the egy tester is best designed for?

Just something which allows price data playback (and trade simulation) which allows for more than one price chart to be'played '. To support time frames. . Ideally the speed of each one of those charts should be adjustable also.

Do not have my hopes up
